COOKEVILLE (WATE) - Webb School of Knoxville took home a sixth state title and third in four years when the Spartans defeated Evangelical Christian School 47-14 in the Division II-A state championship at Tennessee Tech's Tucker Stadium.
Junior running back Robby Strachan ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns to lead Webb's powerful ground game. Strachan was named the game's offensive MVP.
Another Spartan, Brant Mitchell, was named the defensive MVP with 10 tackles. Four of those tackles were unassisted.
The Spartans (11-1) scored three second-quarter touchdowns, with two coming on runs by Todd Kelly rushing scores. Kelly ended the game with 118 yards rushing on 13 carries.
Webb School racked up 453 yards on 59 plays, with all but 47 yards coming on the ground.
